Some common concerns business owners have on offshore manufacturing and sourcing in China. We address these common concerns and also give answers to the most frequently asked questions.

Questions and Answers:

1. To have my product manufactured in China, is it really going to save me money after I put in all the extras?

ChinaMSTP.com is located in China. Work with us the same way you work with any other company in other countries. Your products will be manufactured in China, but we will ship them back to your country for distribution. Our quotes are for your products that are landed in your country and are ready to be delivered to you. Of course, you will get the benefit of real savings by manufacturing your products in China.

2. Is the product quality really going to be equivalent?

Good question. The answer is yes and no. Yes if we pick the right manufacturer to produce your products. No if a wrong factory is used.

3. How complicated is it for me to manufacture my product in China?

It is the same process as you work with any other foreign company to manufacture your products. But, not every product is suitable for manufacturing in China.

4. Do I need to deal with the importation, overseas shipping and the Customs?

No, you don't need to. We will take care of them all. We take care of the paperwork, documentation and the Customs clearance at both ends, not only the importation in your country., but also the exportation from China. You only need to provide us with your delivery address, we'll have goods delivered to you.

5. I would like to have my products produced in China, but I don't speak Chinese or know anything about China.

That is why we are here. We are here to support you to achieve huge manufacturing savings.

6. My concern is the longer lead time, how long does it take to ship the products from China back to my country?

Please allow three to four weeks for sea shipping and the Customs clearance here in your country.

7. What is the production lead time?

It varies from case to case. In general, one month, counting from the day your order is placed to the time your products are ready for shipping out of China.

8. How long does it take to do toolings?

In general, one month.

9. How long does it take to do prototyping?

It really depends on how easy or how complex your product is. It can go from weeks to months.

10. What is the scope of products that you handle?

Let me tell you what type of products I prefer NOT to deal with: quota-regulated products (such as apparel) and products that fall within the anti-dumping-duty scope.

11. How do you know how to source such a diversity of products?

Great question. Click on the Case study link to see my answer.

12. I want to have my product manufactured in China, can you bid on it?

No. I don't bid. See my detailed explanation of how I work in the my focus section and the three basic benefits you must get to produce your products in China.

13. What is your pricing structure?

See my detailed explanation in the Services & Pricing link.

14. How much do you charge for your work?

It varies from product to product. I evaluate my charge on a case to case basis. I take into account how easy or how complex your product is, your needs, your requirements, how much time and effort needed from me to ensure satisfactory results for you and other factors. As I said, I provide personalized service, my work is all about meeting your needs, check out my full explanation in the free consultation and pricing structure sections in the services link.

15.How do you conduct due diligence on manufacturers?

Good question! We use our proprietary Manufacturer Qualification Criteria (MQC) in our due diligence process. See my detailed explanation in the how we work link.

16. How long does it take you to pick a right manufacturer in China for my product?

It depends on your product, it varies from days to weeks. A thorough work at my side ensures satisfactory results for your benefit.

17. How do you know what prices to negotiate with manufacturers?

We know. We have 10 years of experience working in the manufacturing and exportation field, and we were a manufacturer in China awhile back. We understand the manufacturing in China from inside out how the system functions. Our knowledge enables us to put ourselves in other manufacturers' shoes, take into account the regional and local manufacturing environment, the supply and demand of all factors involved, the competition and quality, and know at which level the prices are reasonable, and at which level the prices become attractive without sacrifice on quality.

18. Counterfeit is my main concern if I produce my products in China, how do you address that?

Yes, China does have the problem of not respecting intellectual property right. China's economic growth will inevitably lead to more and more innovation and invention by the Chinese entrepreneurs. Their own needs for the protection of their intellectual property rights will be the real force to drive the internal change.

So what can we do now? On the legal front, patent or design registration is still the way to go. Please do remember to register your patent in China.
Manufacturer-wise, picking a reputable manufacturer is critical. Moreover, see if it is worthwhile to use several manufacturers to produce different parts and components, and have separate manufacturer to do the assembly. I will make my suggestions after I assess your business needs and product information.

Having that said, I would like to invite you to look at this issue from another perspective. The more successful your product is or will be, the more imperative for you to have it made in China. Why? China has the ability to pop out products in volume in a short time at low cost, due to its economy of scale, which enables you to snap up as big as possible the market share with volume products before knock-offs surface. Please bear in mind, every successful product will bring knock-offs, the knock-offs can be from everywhere, not necessarily from China only, but, when your original is made in China at low cost, you are far better armed to compete with the knock-offs than if you produce elsewhere at higher cost, aren't you? Another interesting phenomenon is, it is usually the people in the west who approach Chinese manufacturers and ask them to "copy" the samples they provide at a cheaper price.

Summing it up, I think counterfeit is a bigger issue for every global citizen to face and to resolve together. The solution is to reduce and eventually eliminate not only the supply of counterfeit, but also the demand of counterfeit.

19. How safe are our information & product details with you?
